Last week, Jorinde Verwimp performed at the KWPN Stallion Show in ‘s-Hertogenbosch with Arie Sollenburg and Guardian S. With Arie she participated in the Freestyle during the Symphonica Horse Show. For their beautiful debut performance at Grand Prix level they were rewarded with a second place! With the approved stallion Guardian S she came into action during the presentation on Friday evening. We asked Jorinde about her experiences.
Q: You only recently began to ride the approved and impressive Guardian S, but it looked like you two have been a combination for a long time. How did it go?
Jorinde: “I was not nervous at all for our first public appearance. Guardian S was a bit fast in the beginning, but he relaxed quickly and felt really good. He was paying attention really well in the arena and his ride ability was excellent. He showed great things. We are certainly very satisfied with him!”
Q: What are the futures plans with Guardian S?
Jorinde: “Guardian is getting a little rest now and there is no plan yet. The idea is that Anky van Grunsven will bring him out in the dressage sports later.”
Q: You have participated with Arie in the Symphonica Horse Show! And this was even your Grand Prix debut. You took part in the highlight: the freestyle. What was it like to participate?
Jorinde: “Arie performed outstandingly during the show. We rode our Disney Freestyle, and we both really enjoyed it! It was his first performance at Grand Prix level and he did his utmost best. Our test was well appreciated by the jury, which consisted of, among others, Xander de Buisonjé, a professional jury and the public! We got a very nice score of 83% and a second place.”
Q: What was it like to ride a freestyle on live music?
Jorinde: “Oh, riding on live music was a lot of fun! Yet quite different from normal, but actually everything was different. It was also very nice to see all the riders in a different atmosphere and completely dressed up in theme. I think that everyone really enjoyed it. I am already looking forward to next year!”
Q: Arie’s Grand Prix debut was a great success. When do you get back into action?
Jorinde: “With Arie I have not planned any competitions for the time being. We are going to train at home and orient ourselves quietly at fun competitions!”
