Jedai de Massa breaks the 80% barrier in Lyon
Wim Verwimp and Jedai de Massa concluded Longines Equita Lyon with two top rankings in the FEI Dressage World Cup™: a 5th place in the Grand Prix (71.891%) on Friday and an impressive 4th place in the Grand Prix Freestyle with 80.455% on Saturday!
It was a banner day for Belgium in Lyon: with three Belgian riders in the top four of the freestyle, the standings were strikingly black-yellow-red. And our Belgian champion stood proudly among them.
In the Grand Prix, Wim and Jedai already showed what they are capable of: superb halts, beautiful diagonals, and wonderful balance and swing in the half-passes. The passage-piaffe tours were the highlight, featuring an active piaffe, smooth transitions, and a sharp passage. The one-tempi changes were also effortless, and the pirouettes were well-seated.
In the freestyle, they went a step further, with over 80% and artistic scores up to 88.4%. For comparison: last year this duo rode to 73.560% in the freestyle in Lyon. What incredible growth!
“He is truly my partner,” Wim said earlier this year about the 12-year-old Don Juan de Hus son. This weekend we saw why.
A special word of thanks to Eon Jin Chin and J-Tack Korea, the owners of Jedai de Massa. Without their trust, none of this would have been possible. Wim is immensely grateful for the opportunity to ride such an exceptional horse at the highest level and to experience competitions like this. This result belongs to you too!
Thank you, Mr. Chin, for this incredible opportunity!
Thanks also to everyone who followed along. On to the next one!
